noteworthy iphone shots: on the road

been kicking it in florida the past week. internet-less time has lead to lots of book reading and productivity. pretty into it. after a few days with grandma and great aunt shirley i rented a car to visit jigga man in gainesville and inadvertently got trapped here due to a janky rental car. such is life these days! but i'm rolling with the punches.

made one last purchase on my way out of town and moved it in style

aunt shirley & grandma chillin

feet in the gulf, first of four bodies of water i'll be hitting up this month

new kicks. brass eyelets!

hit up the thrift stores in gainesville!
zack's neighbor dan snagged a copy of the magna carta

and i got a one of a kind bouquet of baby heads

passed on the potted meat
hung out with this guy
and narrowly escaped death by rental. 11, count em, 11 holes in my tire!
now i'm just hanging with weiner dogs 1 & 2 until i hit the road back to grandma's

you are just a trip

been living it up with my ladies a lot lately and with good reason. i've finally recovered from my debilitating flu and we will soon be parting ways for a while. i'm hitting the road (sky) again for the month of february. a couple weeks in florida to spend some time with my grandma and her sister, california for a wedding and then a TBD location in south america where my old college roommate will be joining me! pretty excited...and i'll be even more so if i am able to sublet my apartment out.

coming off a great great weekend full of late nights and lots of chilling with the girls. saw true grit, it was pretty great. also puzzled by a perplexing mystery involving the late night return of my fur scarf...lots of things keeping me on my toes these days and i like it!

grow up

2010 turned into 2011 and I was either tossing and turning, getting sick, or having cold chills when it happened. the flu was my date for new year's eve and he just does not quit! if this is a sign for the year to come, i'm in trouble because last year was already a doozy.

this is what i looked like the past 3 days: a sick & paunchy 43 year old man

a really bad year overall, there were some highlights. i'll only mention those so i can bring in 2011 with good tidings and a warm welcome. it can only get better, right?

last year i...

traveled to 5 countries
fulfilled a longtime dream of traveling around the country
snorkeled and parasailed
swam in the pacific and the atlantic and the gulf (and tapped my shoe into the english channel)
started to get more into photography
became a pretty decent baker
did a lot of bike riding
spent some quality time with a few old and dear friends i don't see often enough
left my job and managed to make it this far without a new one! (but am dying to find the next one)
made some new gooood friends
found out my sister is having a 2nd daughter!
grew closer to my baby brother
made some unforgettable memories.

all the bad shit is in the past now, so ima leave it there and see what 2011 has on deck for me...!

happy thanksgiving everybody

this will be a weird thanksgiving, for sure. my first without my family &/or other loved ones. slept on making plans, so instead i'll see where the day takes me. i did pick up a bottle of red, however, and plan on making carrot cake cupcakes (both regular & miniature) tomorrow morning, so it'll be off to a good start at the least! maybe i'll even attempt a batch of grandma's noodles...

take me to another land

so after i posted the roadtrip pics i realized, wait! i do have more. turns out i bought a holga in portland and took a few rolls with it. when i got back the pricey prints i decided the return on investment might not be worth it, as not many photos came out. but i've revisited the ones that did and think the hard work might be worth it...

i've added them to the set here. they're all in black and white...selects below.

horses
montana ambassadors

magesticglacier
most beautiful place in america? i think so. glacier national park

montanabales
sprinkles

take me to another place

here are some shots from a month long road trip i took this summer. a couple days in i thought my camera was broken, so i only shot two rolls the whole time. big bummer. oh well, sometimes it's nice to just remember things the way they were, without a picture to prove it.

full set here

amazing infrared film

black/white

got my last roll of film from my trip back...black and white shots in paris.

you're in trouble!

the days are long, but the time flies

tiny little parisians

she was playful & curious

Photos! Some aren't half bad, but overall, the gloomy skies over there weren't conducive to shooting with my camera & film. A friend, who shall go unnamed, said these aren't my best work...but that shouldn't reflect on the (mostly) good time I had out there.

home again, home again

...exhausted, sad, excited, et al. going to drop off my film today, so hopefully i'll have some pictures to post later. otherwise, just wrapping my head around being back to life.

i ate a lot of cheese (and and even more pan chocolat), spoke a little broken german (and even less broken french), saw a shit ton of art, drank the local dranks, danced, rode bikes through robin hood territory, walked maybe even more than i do living in new york, and caught up with two dear friends i hadn't seen in 1 & 3 years, respectively. and i am proud to report, my shopping was kept to the bare minimum.

locked up abroad

accidentally looking stereotypically parisian in paris

a hornenflugel (?) in berlin

booked a much needed trip away...

is it the smartest move for the recently unemployed to make? probably not!

so i may get killed for posting this...

but here is a little video of jigga and i parasailing...i've done it a couple times in the past. once with my brother when we were only 10 or so years old and once by myself when i was in my early 20's. it's a pretty surreal feeling and the only sounds you hear are the boat and wind around you. i'd like to say it makes me want to skydive, but i don't know...i think considering i am afraid of heights this is an accomplishment in and of itself.

anyway, jigga was a little nervous (don't get mad at me for sharing that, zack - it's cute!) and when i told him i wanted to go it alone, it took convincing. but the crew put me in my place when they told me the 12 hour per mile winds would be too much and i'd be stuck up there. i'm not mad at how things turned out though, it was a nice thing to share with a good bud.

noteworthy iphone shots

my friend britt hooked me up working as a 'dresser' at fashion week for the rachel comey show...wish i had a shot where i had to fill in for my tardy model during rehearsals. i only came up to these girls' shoulder blades!

can't say where this shot was taken as my friend is paranoid of revealing his identity on the internet, but check out his piece!

pretty proud of myself for catching this tiny guy...haven't done that since i was a kid!

i know the gulf has been recuperating from the oil spill, but the water in st pete has never been clearer

my cute grandma in her polka dot suit testing the waters

parasailed! i didn't weigh enough to go up alone :( ...

...but that meant i got to go up with jigga man! video to come

you can snooze if you want to

sadly, michael jackson wasn't in that day

are there really that many snow globes going through security?
